I am making thousands of dollars from my website but most of the revenues don’t come from Google ads. On average you can make 2-4 dollars out of every 1000 hit you get to your website. So if you got 10,000 hits/day you can make around 20 dollars/day.

Optimizing your ads placement will definitely allow you to earn more money but on the other hand ignoring other methods of income generation will result in mediocre revenues for your website.
